Soil health assessment is often overlooked particularly the biological indicators. Previous researches have been limited to determination of soil microbial population through standard laboratory procedures such as microbial count. Hence, there is a need to have a thorough understanding of the effects of organic and conventional farming on soil health with a special focus on biological properties under Philippine conditions.

The general objective of this study is to assess soil health and analyze the population dynamics of microbial communities in certified organic, in low external input and conventional vegetable and rice farms.

Beneficiaries

Policymakers, highland vegetable farmers, lowland rice farmers
