The National Soil and Water Resources Research and Development Center for Highland Pedo-Ecological Zone (NSWRRDC-HIGHPEZ) is one of the three (3) Research Centers of the Bureau of Soils and Water Management which was established as a National Research Center and venue for Soil and Water Resources Researches and Technologies for Highland Pedo-Ecological Zone. Aside from serving as a platform for the research on land degradation and biodiversity, the Center also advocates, promotes, and demonstrates soil and water management technologies that depict transformation of idle unproductive marginal highland into productive conservation farming.

In this connection, the Center conducted a two-day Capacity Building on the Enhancement of Soil and Water Conservation Technologies in the Highlands at Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.

The activity was participated in by highland farmers in the Municipality together with the Agricultural Technicians under the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cabanglasan headed by their Municipal Agriculturist, Dr. Anita S. Macabugto.

The participants were fortunate as the activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Renante V. Inocanda, the Municipal Mayor of Cabanglasan who is also a farmer and an active supporter of the soil and water conservation efforts in the Province of Bukidnon. He encouraged the farmers to actively participate and adopt the technologies introduced during the training.

With the support of the LGU and the participation of all NSWRRDC-HIGHPEZ Staff (headed by Mr. Florentino C. Agustin) who acted as Resource Persons and Training Facilitators, the activity was a successful event which was appreciated and was a good start for the farmer participants on their move towards the adoption of soil and water conservation technologies in their farms in the highlands.
