To continually strengthen the commitment to improve services towards excellent customer satisfaction, the DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) through the Water Resources Management Division (WRMD) underwent Map Lay-out and Data Processing Using Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) Training from November 8 to 11, 2022 at the DA-BSWM Lopez Convention Hall, Diliman, Quezon City.
The QGIS mapping software allows creating, visualizing, analyzing, and publishing geospatial information. The mapping software will be an effective platform for relaying timely information to farmers and fisherfolks of the Philippines. Professors and Engineers from the University of the Philippines – Los Baños (UPLB) are the Resource Persons of the Training.
During the event’s opening, DA-BSWM OIC Director Gina P. Nilo emphasized that the Training will improve the skills and capabilities of WRMD Engineers and Technical Staff on Map Data Processing and Watershed Delineation.
The five-day Training is one of the DA-BSWM’s initiatives to pursue leadership in the conservation and judicious use of water as a vital agricultural resource in all farming communities.
