The Soil & Water Conservation Division has increased its activities particularly in the present technologies involved in the Livelihood Enhancement Agriculture Program, the Sloping Agricultural Land Technology and the Guided Farming System. As a result of the stiff competition among industrial, urban and agricultural sectors, the sudden shift to upland farming system would necessitate new technologies particularly those upland areas situated in deforested and degraded lands. The functions of the Division are

  • Formulates and recommends policies, standards, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations and provides technical supervision for the implementation of plans/programs relating to the conservation, utilization and management of soil
  • Recommends effective measures and practices for the utilization and conservation of soil in croplands and other areas
  • Recommends research and demonstration areas relating to soil conservation and management
  • Recommends short, medium and long range program on work and budget on soil conservation and management
  • Assists the formulation of training programs on soil conservation, utilization and management for different levels of participants
  • Coordinates with other agencies on matters relating to soil conservation, utilization and management
  • Provides technical supervision and material assistance to the regional offices of the DA on matters relating to soil conservation
