The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) turned-over a small diversion dam last May 24, 2012 in Majayjay, Laguna to 87 farmer-beneficiaries in the area tending to various crops.

BSWM Executive Director Dr. Silvino Q. Tejada said that the small diversion dam will be of big help to the farmer-beneficiaries because this will allow them to divert water to their paddy fields as source of supplemental irrigation.

“Small diversion dams have proven their worth in irrigating areas that are not covered by national irrigation systems, and the BSWM is committed to building even more in the next years to come,” Tejada said.

Besides small diversion dams, the BSWM builds on its own or in cooperation with concerned local government units and agricultural stakeholders small water impounding projects, and small farm reservoir.

Majayjay Mayor Teofilo B. Guera, Munincipal Agriculturist, Congressman Edgardo San Luis of the 4th District of Laguna, BWSM Water Resources Management Division staff attended the turnover ceremony of the small diversion dam to the farmer beneficiaries in Taytay Falls, Majayay.
